General admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors (65 and over), and free for museum members, UL Lafayette students, faculty, and staff with ID. Members of NARM (North American Reciprocal Museum) Association are free. Children under 10 are also admitted free.

The permanent collection features more than 3,000 works, including Louisiana art, European and American paintings, works on paper, folk art, and contemporary pieces. Highlights include works by Clementine Hunter, Henry Ossawa Tanner, Andy Warhol, Edgar Degas, Pablo Picasso, Arthur Dove, Robert Rauschenberg, Pierre Auguste Renoir, Hunt Slonem, Keith Sonnier, Cora Kelly Ward, and a deep collection of regional artists.
Yes. In addition to the permanent collection, the museum hosts multiple temporary exhibitions each year, showcasing regional, national, and international artists.
The historic A. Hays Town building, inspired by 19th-century Greek Revival plantation homes, opened in 1968 and operated as an exhibition space for students. The contemporary building, designed by Eskew+Dumez+Ripple, opened in 2004.
