HER SELF: WORKS BY KATHY SOSA
Apr 25, 2015 — Aug 29, 2015
Kathy Sosa's paintings and her selection of embroidered garments known as huipiles draw upon the rich cultural heritage of Mesoamerica, the area which
extends from central Mexico through Central American, including Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, and El Salvador. Together the paintings and textiles share
an intensity of color with design motifs inspired by the arts and crafts of indigenous peoples. Living and working in San Antonio, Texas, the artist
has been deeply influenced by mestisaje, the blending of cultures and languages in the Texas-Mexico border region.
