ART UNDER THE BIG SKY
Sep 05, 2015 — Jan 02, 2016
Art Under the Big Sky offers selections from the Yellowstone Art Museum's permanent collection of contemporary and historic works of art from the Northern Plains and Rocky Mountain regions. Artists played an important role in creating the imagery that influence western migration and the preservation of the world's first national park. From 19th century photographs to contemporary works by artists including Peter Voulkos and Deborah Butterfield, the exhibit captures the isolation, fruitfulness, spirit, and the passage of time as it is associated with the western landscape. The exhibition was organized by the Yellowstone Art Museum in Billings, Montana in cooperation with the Paul and Lulu Hilliard University Art Museum.
