Experience the senses of the French Riviera with an evening of fine wine, cheese, and pastry pairings alongside a private viewing of the exclusive exhibitions Pierre Bonnard: Landscapes from Le Cannet with LouAnne Greenwald, Director of the Hilliard Museum. The evening will be hosted by Dina M. Bohn, Sommelier of Marcello's Wine Market Cafe. Tickets must be purchased for this event, space is limited.

Yoga in the Galleries will be offered in French and in English during the summer season led by RYT-200 certified instructors. Please bring your own yoga mat and arrive 10 minutes before class is scheduled to begin. While the event is free to attend, we ask that you give the instructors a suggested donation of $10-$20.

Join us for our summer Play Day as we explore the art of recycling through art projects, games, and more! Amie Rogers will act as the museum’s artist-in-residence this summer and lead a hands-on activity using found and recycled objects. Learn more about how you can take care of our Earth and beautiful landscapes through creative projects and fun games. Come and show us how you play! Community organizations and partners will be available at this event so you can learn more about how Lafayette is going green. This event is free to attend thanks to the generous support of Quest Pediatrics Dentistry.

 

Wed, June 7 & Wed, July 5 & Wed, August 2 • 10:00-11:00 AM

Parents and their children will enjoy story time led by a certified kindergarten teacher and participate in a hands-on art project. At each Toddler Time this summer, children will learn basic French vocabulary through our word of the day activity! Guests are welcome to explore the museum with our family-friendly gallery guide after the program. This event is free to attend thanks to the generous support of Quest Pediatrics Dentistry.

 

Every Wed, June 7-August 9 • 10:00-11:00 AM

Come to the museum for a French hour every Wednesday morning this summer. Guests are encouraged to come and enjoy a conversation in French as you surround yourself with Bonnard's inspiring French landscapes. Agnes Cappello, a French language instructor, will be in the galleries from June 7 – July 19. David Cheramie, current CEO of Bayou Vermilion District and former Director of CODOFIL, will be in the galleries from July 26 – August 9.

May 12-July 22 • Acadiana Center for the Arts

The AcA will present works of art by French artists in the Coca Cola studio this summer featuring Pierre Bonnard, Andre Derain, Georges Rouault, Marc Chagall, Jacques Villon, Bernard Buffet, Antione Bourdelle and more.

 

June 10, July 8, August 12  • Vermilionville Living History Museum
Explore Vermilionville’s historic village on a bilingual guided tour at 1 PM then catch the end of their weekly Cajun jam session. Call 337-233-4077 for more information. Fluency in french not required!

 



Friday

 

-Attend the museum’s opening reception for the summer season on June 9 with complimentary hors d’oeurves and drinks courtesy of Bon Temps Grill and Republic National Distributing Company.
-In July and August, buy a ticket to the museum’s Bordeaux, Brie, et Bonnard event to enjoy wine, cheese, and pastry pairings alongside a private viewing of the Pierre Bonnard exhibition with museum staff.

 

Saturday

-Enjoy a festive morning filled with music, dancing, and good food at the weekly Zydeco Brunch in Breaux Bridge. June & July’s location for brunch will be at Buck & Johnny’s, August’s will return to Café des Amis’ original location.
-For a calmer start to your day, come to the museum for yoga. Classes will be available in French and English.
-For your afternoon, head on over to Vermilionville’s historic village for a bilingual guided tour at 1 PM then catch the end of their weekly Cajun jam session. Call 337-233-4077 for more information.
-Take a scenic drive down to Arnaudville for a bilingual tour of LA31’s brew house, call 337-290-5244 for more information.
-For the evening, explore Downtown Lafayette for the monthly Art Walk which showcases local artists and their work!


Sunday

-Enjoy Sunday brunch at some of Lafayette’s unique eateries: The French Press, Saint Street Inn, or Social Southern Table & Bar.
-Before you head home, check out Vermilionville’s weekly Bal du Dimanche. And on August 13, you can experience the annual Acadian Culture Day at Vermilionville which will conclude our city’s summer celebration of our French heritage!
